Participant Agreement for the GoodTribes Community

Background

Stiftelsen GoodTribes (org. no. 802481-8497), hereinafter "the Foundation," operates the platform goodtribes.org. The Foundation is an independent legal entity under Swedish foundation law – it is not owned by any natural or legal person, but manages its own assets and operations in accordance with its bylaws and its purpose: to contribute to long-term sustainable environmental and social development.

This agreement ("the Agreement") describes what it means to take part in the GoodTribes community: creating an account, posting ideas and initiatives, contributing to others' initiatives, and otherwise using the platform.

A note on the word "member." In everyday language and on the platform, we use the word "member" to mean a participant in the community – not a formal member or founder of Stiftelsen GoodTribes in the legal sense. A Swedish foundation has no members with voting rights over the foundation's own affairs; it is governed by its board in accordance with its bylaws. Your participation in the community gives you influence over individual initiatives as described in section 4 below, but does not make you a founder, board member, or owner of the Foundation.

1. What you agree to by joining

By creating an account on goodtribes.org and confirming that you have read this Agreement, you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not create an account or take part in the community.

2. The Foundation's commitment to openness

The Foundation strives for full openness in its operations: how initiatives develop, how decisions are made, and how resources are used should, as a rule, be visible to everyone. Exceptions to this (such as anonymous contributions in the Sandbox, or the protection of personal data under GDPR) are deliberate and limited departures, not a general right to confidentiality.

3. Ownership of content and initiatives

3.1. All material you post on goodtribes.org – text, images, project descriptions, code, files, and other content ("Content") – transfers in ownership to the Foundation, to the extent permitted by law, upon publication on the platform.

3.2. Initiatives (ideas, projects, and similar) created on the platform likewise belong to the Foundation. The Foundation holds this ownership for the charitable purpose the initiative serves, not for its own commercial gain.

3.3. Your moral rights (the right to be credited as the author, and the right to object to derogatory treatment of your work) under Swedish copyright law remain with you to the extent they cannot be transferred under Swedish law. By joining the community, however, you consent to such editing, adaptation, and use of your Content as is reasonably necessary to operate and develop the platform and the initiative you contributed to.

3.4. Deleting your account does not affect the Foundation's ownership of Content or initiatives already published – they remain and may continue to be maintained and developed by the community.

4. Governance of initiatives in proportion to contribution

4.1. Although an initiative is owned by the Foundation, its day-to-day direction is governed by those who contribute to it – in proportion to their contribution, as measured by the token system (GT and Tribe Tokens) described on the platform.

4.2. This means your ability to influence an initiative's direction, priorities, and decisions grows with your contribution to that specific initiative. It does not give you ownership of the initiative, nor voting rights over the Foundation's own affairs (such as electing the board or amending its bylaws).

4.3. The Foundation reserves the right to intervene in an initiative's governance if it violates the Foundation's bylaws, this Agreement, the GoodTribes Code of Conduct, or applicable law.

5. Your responsibilities as a participant

By taking part in the community, you agree to:

  • follow the GoodTribes Code of Conduct in all your interactions on the platform,
  • provide accurate information about yourself and your initiatives, particularly regarding finances and results,
  • not post Content you do not have the right to share (for example, others' copyrighted material without permission),
  • not use the platform for unlawful purposes.

6. Personal data

The Foundation's handling of your personal data is described in our privacy policy. By creating an account, you also agree to that policy.

7. Limitation of liability

The platform is provided "as is." The Foundation is not responsible for the outcome of individual initiatives, for content posted by other users, or for technical disruptions. The Foundation is not liable for indirect damages arising from use of the platform, to the extent permitted by law.

8. Ending your participation

You may close your account at any time by contacting Info@goodtribes.org. The Foundation may suspend or terminate your account for serious or repeated violations of this Agreement or the Code of Conduct, in accordance with the principles described there.

9. Changes to this Agreement

The Foundation may update this Agreement. Material changes will be announced with reasonable notice before they take effect, for example by email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

10. Governing law and disputes

This Agreement is governed by Swedish law. Disputes should first be resolved through dialogue with the Foundation. If that is not possible, disputes shall be settled by a Swedish court, with Stockholm District Court as the first instance.

11. Acceptance

By checking "I have read and agree to the Participant Agreement" during registration, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this Agreement.
